About me

My name is Keenan. I'm a deep thinker and I enjoy solving problems. I learned about computers at a young age and learned to use them, but I had no idea the true capabilities that they truly have. being a young kid in the 90's my parents brought home a new Windows computer and it started the fasination I have today.
I got out of the military in 2016 and was confused what to do like most combat veterans. I struggled for a few years trying to find my true calling. I even went back to work for Uncle Sam for a little bit but I knew it wasn't for me. It wasn't until someone very close to me recommended that I look into coding. I said 'wait. I thought you have to be to really smart and have some type of computer science degree of some soart.' I defefinitly thought you had to some type of rocket scientist.
2018 I started to learn how to code but found out quickly why the salary levels are high. I wasn't coding everyday and the way I was learning was not sticking completely. I ended up signing up for a course to learn the basic skills but I wasn't having any luck with what I was being taught. I did what a lot of people learning to code do. So I signed up for a bootcamp. I ended up dropping out on the 7th day because it wasn't the right learning envirment for me. I was devistated. I ended up quiting becuase I thought I was dumb. 2021 roles around and I decided to give coding another shot so I decided to enroll into an online university that is self paced. I really ended up excelling in school and finally learning how to program at my own pace. It was the first time I was doing well in school.
2022 was a difficult time for us all. I was in school full-time and got blind sided with a divorce and diagnosed with a petuatary tumor and needed to drop out due to health problems and getting my life on track overall. Luckily the tumor was benign but it has changed my life drasticly. The end of 2022 going into 2023 I have a much more stable life and I'm back learning to code and taking on my own projects. 2023 I plan on going back to college to finish my software development degree. Until then I am going to keep building and plan on getting hired somewhere. No one ever told me this was going to be easy but I found out this is what I love and want to continue to learn and push myself in.
